Every year, the Greenville Redevelopment Commission holds a Business Plan Competition. This summer's competition resulted in grants totaling $30,000 to local entrepreneurs.

The annual Business Plan Competition is open to existing or start-up small businesses that are primarily located within the boundaries of the Center City. Applicants must be for-profit businesses with average net income not exceeding $2.5 million. The purpose of the competition is to provide an incentive to small business owners and other entrepreneurs to create or expand businesses within the boundaries of Center City.

How the grant can be used

The competition is held twice a year with deadlines in July 1 and December 1. Grant funds can be used for:

  • Working capital or operating funds
  • Purchase of equipment, commercial use vehicles or machinery
  • Property improvements
  • Expanding business services or products
Up to four grants are awarded in each business cycle (total of up to 8 grants per year).
