$714,076 In Recycling Assistance Grants Awarded to Delaware Small Businesses
For the 6th consecutive year, the state has awarded recycling assistance grants to schools, businesses and municipalities through the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC). The grant program funds at least 25 percent of the total project cost in either cash or in-kind services for recycling projects in the state.
The grant program has resulted in "diverting nearly 43 percent of recyclables from our landfills – ranking among the nation’s leaders in recycling," states Delaware Governor Jack Markell. This year's grant recipients included eight individual public schools, three school districts, two universities, two municipalities, and nine businesses from industries such as waste hauling, service companies, poultry integrators and a railroad maintenance facility.
