From Middleman to Moneyman, Columbus, Ohio Company Helps Small Businesses That Need Cash

Tim Johnson, CEO, Small Business Owners of America
Alternative funding sources are growing throughout the country, offering financial help to small and medium-sized companies that need cash and have difficulty securing loans from traditional banks. One of those sources is located in Columbus, Ohio, Small Business Owners of America.

From business services to business funding

Tim Johnson, CEO of Small Business Owners of America, knows all about small business. His company began by helping small business owners write business plans, and become better business managers. All of this was to help prepare them for obtaining cash from banks and investors. Now SBOOA provides the funding, too. Johnson recently moved his business into the downtown area where he can be at the heart of small business owners.

Johnson's company offers in-house revenue-based funding, and also works with equipment and asset-based lenders, as well as factoring companies. Many of his clients are locally-owned businesses, but he also serves a toy company based in California.

Johnson states that "Columbus is great for small business. The environment and ecosystem are extremely supportive of entrepreneurs and small-business owners." SBOOA disbursed more than $5 million in financing in 2015 and anticipates tripling that number this year.
