This Grant Program Turns Green Thumbs Into Cash and Improved Employee Productivity
The Green Thumbs At Work Grant Program
The grants are available to small businesses with fewer than 50 employees. Small businesses who are interested in creating workplace food gardens for their employees can receive grants of $1,750 each. The grants cover the cost of materials, horticulture technical assistance, and even a gift certificate from Gardener’s Supply.
How the program helps employees
Not only is the grant helping small businesses, but it is creating a program of physical activity and stress reduction which will directly and positively affect employees. In addition, it will provide fresh produce for employees.
The deadline to apply for the grant is January 29, 2016. Up to 11 grants will be awarded. The program is supported through The Vermont Department of Health and Vermont Community Garden Network, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont, and Gardener’s Supply.
