Pennsylvania Awards More Than $980,000 in Grants to 139 Small Businesses
Pennsylvania's Small Business Advantage Grant Program once again showed its support for small business by awarding a total of $980,000 in grants recently to 139 small businesses across the state of Pennsylvania. The grants were part of the state's recognition and reward program for businesses who install energy-efficiency or pollution-prevention projects.

Improving energy efficiency

As Pennsylvania's Governor Tom Wolf explained, "Improving energy efficiency helps small businesses and helps improve quality of life for all residents." "These grants will help small businesses, improve the environment and grow the economy." Eligible businesses included those with 100 or fewer employees. The grant program offered 50 percent matching reimbursement grants of up to $9,500 to companies who initiated and installed projects that will save 25 percent a year in pollution-prevention or energy-related costs.

Winners were chosen from companies across 40 counties in Pennsylvania. The diverse range of small businesses who received grants ranged from dry cleaners to dental services, construction and coal companies, plumbing, transportation, real estates and hospitality management, auto body, manufacturing and many more.

Since 2004, the program has awarded nearly $9.5 million to 1,915 small businesses across the state of Pennsylvania. The Small Business Advantage Grants are provided by the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP).
