Washington D.C. Bank Offering Five Grants Totaling $80,000 for New Small Businesses

Industrial Bank in Washington, D.C., is not only one of the oldest and largest community development financial institutions in the nation but the last African-American-owned bank in Greater Washington. As they celebrate 34 years in business, they want to do what they do best -- help small business.

Celebrating business by giving grants

The bank has a history of helping small business owners and people who are underserved. So, what better way to build on that reputation than to offer grants to new small businesses in the area. Applicants must be existing entrepreneurial enterprises who are located within the bank's service areas. This includes Washington DC, Prince Georges County MD, Montgomery County, Fairfax County VA, the City of Arlington VA and the city of Alexandria VA.

Applicants must be in business from 12 months to five years and have revenues of less than $1 million. They may submit an application by mail or in person at one of the bank's eight locations. The deadline to apply is January 15, 2015.

The Industrial Bank Small Grant Initiative Program is being supported by Industrial Bank, the U.S. Black Chambers Inc., FSC First of Prince Georges County, Operation HOPE, and the D.C. Chamber of Commerce.
