The Massachusetts Clean Energy Center Awards $305,000 in Small Business Grants

Massachusetts Clean Energy Center
Four small businesses in the state of Massachusetts recently received grants totaling $305,000 from the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center. The businesses received the grants as part of Massachusetts' MassCEC's IncubateMass Program.

All four companies are considered what is known as incubators. The Massachusetts Clean Energy Center describes incubator businesses as those who accelerate the successful development of start-up companies by providing entrepreneurs with an array of targeted resources and services, including mentoring, specialized equipment, affordable work space, business facilities, educational series and networks.

The grant program is a win-win combination of supporting incubators who, in turn, provide needed support for clean energy companies. The grants align with the focus of the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center to promote the success of clean energy technologies in the state of Massachusetts. Since it's beginning in 2009, MassCEC has helped clean energy companies grow and has supported a number of clean energy projects as well as invested in renewable energy programs for both residential and commercial.

The grants can be used to fund operational costs for incubators. The grants allow incubators to continue to provide services to clean energy companies, such as office space, equipment, legal services, and other professional services.
