NCIDEA
If you are a small business owner in North Carolina with a great idea in technology, the NC IDEA Grant Program may be able to help. Since 2006, the company has been awarding grants to small businesses in North Carolina. Recently, they awarded six grants to local companies that totaled $270,000.

The company has two grant cycles. The Spring cycle application period opens in February, and the Fall application cycle opens in August. Each idea is judged according to Idea, Technology, Team, Market, Competition, Strategy, Funding and Impact. Startup companies located in North Carolina who have a great project idea involving technology are encouraged to apply.

NC IDEA is a non-profit organization located in Durham, North Carolina, who supports local companies in the information technology, medical diagnostics, material sciences and green technology industries. The grants are designed to help start-up companies focused in these areas.

Small businesses may use the grant money for business-related expenses. The companies who have received grants are those whose projects have made a significant impact within the state of North Carolina.
