More Than $53,000 in Business Grants Awarded By Chemical Alliance Zone

Chemical Alliance Zone
In West Virginia, the chemical industry is responsible for creating more than 10,000 direct jobs and 45,500 indirect jobs. It's home to some of the world's leading chemical companies. And West Virginia would like it to stay that way. So, the Chemical Alliance Zone is helping by giving grants to start up companies and entrepreneurs through their chemical and materials commercialization fund.

Three companies who recently received grants developed products or systems that had big potential for commercialization in West Virginia. One company developed a portable water filtration unit that can be used for customer demonstrations on clean water. Another grant went to a biotechnology company whose specialty is analyzing DNA, and a third grant was awarded to a company to further their work in green processes.

All three companies represent the type of technology-based entrepreneurs that Chemical Alliance Zone would like to see relocate or start up in West Virginia. The purpose of the grant program is to encourage more technology companies to relocate to West Virginia and to increase commercialization for existing companies.

The Chemical Alliance Zone, Inc. (CAZ) is a West Virginia-based non-profit organization dedicated to supporting and expanding the chemical industry and technology economy in West Virginia.
