For the third consecutive year, Comerica Bank is supporting small businesses in Michigan with its annual Comerica Hatch Detroit contest. Small Michigan businesses may enter the contest by submitting an idea for opening a retail business in Detroit.
The best idea submitted will win a $50,000 business grant. In addition, other semi-finalist winners will receive free business services, including legal advice, marketing and advertising support, and information technology assistance provided by local businesses and organizations.
Businesses located in the midtown area of Detroit may apply, beginning June 3, 2013. Past winners have included restaurants, home furnishing stores, coffee shops, bake stores, and more. The purpose of the grant contest is to support retail entrepreneurs in downtown Detroit, create more jobs, and make Detroit a thriving urban community.
Comerica Bank is a subsidiary of Comerica Incorporated, founded in 1849 in Detroit. The financial services company operates under three divisions that include The Business Bank, The Retail Bank, and Wealth Management.
