Indianapolis Small Businesses Awarded $168,000 In Grants From LISC

Indianapolis Local Initiatives Support Corporation
Thirty-two small businesses in Indianapolis have benefited from grants totaling more than $168,000 from the Indianapolis Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC). The local businesses will use the grant money, which covers up to 50% of the work, to improve their building structures and signage.

Many of the businesses receiving the grant funds are adding additional investments to allow for even more improvements such as remodeling or expansion that will help or even expand their businesses.

Canada Ministry of Natural Resources Announces $7 Million Business Grant Program

Canada Ministry of Natural Resources is encouraging the use of alternative clean energy sources for power installations with grants being awarded to companies up to $300,000 per project. The government funding program has set aside $7 million to support up to 150 projects with small business grants.

The programme d’aide a l’installation d’equipments solaires operationnels (PAIESO) program is targeting commercial, industrial, institutional, municipal and agricultural installations currently burning oil, diesel, gasoline, natural gas, propane and butane to generate power. The grant program supports the use of alternative, clean sources of electricity generation and less reliance on burning of fossil fuels.

Rural Energy For America Program Awards Small Business Grants for Renewable Energy

The U.S. Department of Agriculture, through its Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) has awarded 17 Oregon small businesses grants to continue their work on renewable energy projects, such as the installation of solar arrays. Solar panels convert solar energy into direct current electricity; arrays are groups of panels linked together to create more energy.

Three other businesses in Oregon received grants for geothermal and biomass studies and solar projects. A total of 450 grants were given nationally by REAP, totaling $7.4 million. Oregon projects received more than $242,000. In addition to grants, the REAP progam also gives loans to agricultural producers and rural small businesses to support their work financially.
