Small Businesses in Montana Eligible For Grants To Train Employees

Montana Business Assistance Connection
Small businesses in Helena, Montana, who have 20 employees or less, can receive grants from the Montana Business Assistance Connection (MBAC) to help train new employees. The grants are called Incumbent Worker Training (IWT) Grants which can help small businesses absorb training costs for both part-time and full-time new employees.

For every $4 of grant money employers receive, they must match $1 which can be used for training expenses such as wages, benefits, travel and lodging during the training period. Grants range up to $2,000 each for full-time employees and $1,000 each for part-time employees.

The Montana Business Assistance Connection is a non-profit organization established in 1998 originally to create new jobs in the Helena, Montana area. The organization helps small business succeed with grants and loans, business expertise and capital sourcing.

The Incumbent Worker Training Grants are being made possible through the combined efforts of MBAC, the Helena Small Business Development Center, and the Montana Department of Labor and Industry.
