Business Grants From Charter One Help Revitalize Small Businesses in Cleveland

Charter One Foundation
The Charter One Foundation is once again helping small business in the Cleveland area with business grants that will promote economic development. Through The Charter One Growing Communities competition, the foundation this time will award $100,000 in grants.

From the total grant of $100,000, individual grants ranging from $2,000 to $35,000 will be awarded to community development corporations and other nonprofits that serve neighborhood growth and revitalization projects. Those eligible for grants include small business, entrepreneurs, development of retail services, and neighborhood beautification projects.

The Charter One Growing Communities competition began in 2010 to revitalize the Ohio City Market City District. Through the small business grant competition, five small businesses and 38 new jobs were created. Since 2010, the foundation has awarded $520,000 in grants to Ohio City. The foundation has also awarded business grants to small businesses in Detroit Shoreway and Akron University Park areas.

The grant program is now extending to the suburbs of Cuyahoga County  to winning nonprofits that serve neighborhoods in Cuyahoga County. The foundation plans to continue its work in supporting small business in the greater Cleveland area.
