The Simonton Development Corporation in Simonton, Texas has officially launched a Business Assistance Grant Program that will help local Fort Bend County businesses that need to make improvements. The funding is supported by a portion of the sales tax collected in Simonton, and administered by a seven-member board of directors.
Cash-match grants of up to $2,000 are being offered in three categories: 1) façade improvements for store fronts; 2) new or refurbished business signs; and 3) property improvements such as lighting and landscaping. The grants are only available to business owners and business building owners within the city limits of Simonton.

Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) Grant Competition
The U.S. Commerce Dept’s Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) has opened a grant competition to candidates interested in operating MBDA Business Centers in three U.S. regions: the Upper Midwest, the Northeast and Southern California. Selected candidates will receive funding to support business center operations and will join a national network of 27 other MBDA Business Centers.
The primary objective of MBDA Business Centers is to provide strategic business consulting services to minority firms that will result in increased public and private sector contracting opportunities and capital investments, ultimately leading to the creation of new U.S. jobs.
