Advantage Grant Program For Pennsylvania Small Businesses

Small business owners in Pennsylvania can now apply for business grants in the amount of up to $7,500. The grants have to be used to adopt or acquire energy efficient or pollution-prevention equipment or processes. Since 2004, the Small Business Advantage Grant Program has awarded nearly $6 million to more than 1,000 businesses across the state.

The qualification terms are simple. Applicants must be a for-profit corporation, LLC, partnership, sole proprietorship or other legal entity with 100 or fewer full-time employees. Non-profit organizations are not eligible.

The grant-supported project can be located in any city in the state of Pennsylvania, but it must save their business at least 10 percent annually in energy or pollution-related expenses. Typical projects that would qualify include, but are not limited to: HVAC and boiler upgrades, high-efficiency lighting, solvent recovery systems, waste recycling systems and auxiliary power units deployed as anti-idling technology for trucks.

The deadline is on November 5, 2010, and all applications must be mailed or hand-delivered to the Department of Environmental Protection. No acceptions! Eligible applications will be approved on a first-come, first-served basis while funds last.
